Concrete Pool Deck Installation & Replacement
Custom-designed concrete pool decks — we build the deck, not the pool

Concrete Pool Decks Installed by Marcucci Concrete

Marcucci installs and replaces concrete pool decks — we do not build swimming pools. If a pool contractor is putting in a new pool, our crew pours the deck once the shell, backfill and coping are in place. If the pool is already in the ground, we tear out the worn deck around it and pour a new one — more room to sit, a wider surround, a finish that works barefoot.
A pool deck lives in water, sun and Michigan freeze-thaw cycles. We build ours to the highest quality standard in Oakland County, Michigan: 4,500 PSI concrete 4.5 inches thick Wire-mesh reinforcement over a compacted base Sloped away from the pool and the house so water runs where you want it to.
New pool decks, poured after your pool contractor
Once the pool shell is set, backfilled and coped, our crew takes the backyard from there. We compact the base, set forms to the pool's curves, place the wire mesh and pour the deck. Compact tracked equipment gets us in and out of backyards with less damage to the lawn.
- Deck poured to the pool's shape, with patios, walkways and steps tied in
- Forms set to curves and radii, not just square corners
- Scheduling coordinated with your pool builder
Replacing the deck around an existing pool
When the concrete around an older pool cracks, settles or wears out, we remove the old deck and pour a new one in its place. We protect the pool and the yard while we work, form the new deck to the pool's edge, and leave the surrounding ground cleaned up and ready to finish.
Decks designed around how you use the pool
A deck is only worth building if it fits the way you actually use the backyard. We lay out the size, the shape and the edges around the pool, the house and the lawn, so you get room to sit, room to walk and a clear route back to the door.
Choosing a pool deck finish
Exposed aggregate leaves the washed stone at the surface, so the deck keeps its grip when it is wet and hides splash spots. Stamped concrete gives the look of slate or stone in a range of patterns and colors. A broom finish is the simplest and most economical, and still gives good footing.

Common questions
Do you build swimming pools?
No. We install the concrete deck and patio around the pool. For a new pool, we work with your pool contractor and pour once the shell and coping are in.
Can you replace the concrete around my existing pool?
Yes. We tear out the worn or cracked deck and pour a new one around the pool that is already in the ground, protecting the pool and yard while we work. Photos of a deck we replaced around an existing pool are on this page.
Do you work with my pool contractor?
Yes. Once the pool shell is set, backfilled and coped, our crew comes in for the base, forms, reinforcement and the pour, so the two jobs don't trip over each other.
What is the least slippery pool deck finish?
Exposed aggregate gives the most grip when wet because the washed stone is left exposed at the surface. A broom finish is also good underfoot, and we pitch every deck away from the pool so water drains instead of standing.
