Most driveways in Oakland County do not fail because of the concrete on top. They fail because of what is underneath: uncompacted sand, clay that holds water, and a slab poured too thin to carry a pickup through a Michigan winter.

We tear out the old slab completely, rebuild the base, and pour a driveway engineered for freeze-thaw cycling, road salt and daily truck traffic.

Concrete driveway installation and replacement, start to finish

We self-perform every step with our own crews and trucks, out of our shop on Pontiac Trail in Wixom. Most driveway replacements take about two working days, from tear-out to finished slab.

Old slab removed and hauled off, base rebuilt and compacted, forms set to drain away from the house, wire mesh placed, then pour, finish, joint and clean up.

  • Tear-out and disposal of the old driveway
  • Grading and drainage correction away from the foundation
  • Approach work coordinated with city right-of-way requirements
  • Widening, third-car extensions and turnarounds
  • Broom, exposed aggregate or stamped border finishes

What goes into every Marcucci driveway

These four standards are what separate a driveway that lasts decades from one that scales and cracks in a few winters.

  • Concrete: 4,500 PSI air-entrained mix built for Michigan freeze-thaw and road salt
  • Base: compacted 21AA crushed concrete that drains instead of trapping water
  • Reinforcement: wire mesh placed in every standard driveway slab
  • Jointing and cure: saw-cut control joints plus cure and seal guidance before the first winter

Concrete driveway replacement cost: what moves the price

Square footage is only part of it. We measure on site and give you a written scope so you have a clear comparison.

  • Square footage and layout (straight run, curves, turnarounds)
  • Tear-out depth and how much base needs replacing
  • Slab thickness: 4.5" standard, more for heavy vehicles
  • Equipment access to the site
  • Finish choice: broom, exposed aggregate or stamped borders
  • City approach permits and right-of-way requirements

Common questions

How long does it take to replace a driveway?

A typical driveway replacement takes about two working days from tear-out through completion. Larger layouts, city approach requirements, weather, or site conditions can extend the schedule.

How long before I can drive on a new concrete driveway?

Foot traffic after 24–48 hours, passenger vehicles after 7 days, and heavy trucks or dumpsters after 28 days once the concrete reaches full design strength.

Should I replace or resurface my driveway?

Resurfacing only hides the problem when the base has failed or the slab is cracked through. If you see settlement, heaving or cracks wider than a pencil, replacement is the only repair that lasts.

What time of year can you pour?

We pour from spring through late fall in Michigan, and into early winter with blankets and mix adjustments. Scheduling early in the season is the best way to avoid a fall backlog.
